Lets be honest! We are tired of end-of-the-world predictions, ancient astronaut theories and the ‘secret codes’ left behind by unknown civilizations. If a global catastrophe is going to occur on a specific day and ancient people knew about it for certain, they would not leave cryptic symbols lying around for us to laboriously decode. Neither just a calendar! They would have left simple clear messages saying ” People of the future! destruction coming your way on this precise day, so good luck and thanks a lot for not misconstruing our megalithic monuments, artifacts and whatnots”. Mayans did not predict a dooms day, neither did any other ancient advanced civilization. They were only calculating an end of a cycle.
Every dooms day prediction made so far, has obviously failed! But that has not prevented us from being deluded, and being incapable of learning from the past. We are still here defying all apocalyptic predictions, yet we haven’t stopped dreaming the dream.
I think as humans we have a fascination with the world coming to an end in their lifetime. We want to be able to witness it for many reasons. We want to see something extraordinary or extraterrestrial (if you wish), happening right before our eyes. It just goes to show how bored we are of everyday life. We go looking for clues to a such phenomenon, hoping to find some meaning, truth and a certain end. Maybe secretly, we are all suicidal….hoping for blameless mass extinction. Or we just badly want proof of a divine connection….GOD (as you please).
2012 predictions are kind of the same thing except for its alluring planetary collision, UFO sightings, alien invasion theories, NASA conspiracies, age-cycles and Mayan-Sumerian sophisticated secret knowledge connection.
- The fact that the Mayan long count calendar ends in 2012, does not mean the world is coming to end. Do you remember how many times you have said “just because of this….it doesn’t mean it’s the end of the world”? Yeah, so it’s something like that. We know for sure with more people trying to make sense out of the Mayan civilization that 2012 is certainly not the end. New excavations in Guatemala now reveal Mayan dates that stretch 7000 years into the future. For all those who are looking for solid evidence, this is it.
The dates and computations about the moon, sun and possibly Venus and Mars may stretch some 7,000 years into the future.
- There have been thousands of dates predicting apocalyptic events in the history and some into the future. Romans, early Christians, popes, priests, explorers, mathematicians, scientists, philosophers, writers, astrologers and conspiracy theorists have all had their own theories of a dooms day. The end of the world was predicted for the year 2000 by many, but remember how nothing happened? Yeah, so 2012 is not going to be much different.
- The Mayan prediction for 2012 was the most supported argument about the end of the world. But as of November 2012, we know its not going to take place. There is no sign of planet Nibiru, which does not exist by the way, therefore certainly not going to collide with Earth. 2012 dooms day enthusiasts believe that this elusive planet on a 3600-year orbit was discovered by the ancient Sumerians, who named it Nibiru, and it was known also to the Mayans, who associated it with the end of their calendar long count in December 2012. Apparently there is a NASA conspiracy to keep the planet’s information from the public. Even if NASA was secretly tracking it, wouldn’t it be visible to the naked eye by now? It’s a planet heading our way!!! The catastrophe was initially predicted for May 2003, unless we all missed it ….nothing really happened. Chances of it colliding with earth on December 21st is NONE.
The truth is nobody knows when the world is going to end. Scientists believe it will take millions of years for the sun to start expanding leading to a possible solar explosion. But that doesn’t concern us. It will be the major concern of robotic humanoids/super humans who in my opinion will be inhabiting the earth then. They will find a way around it so don’t worry. By this time Earthlings would have found a place to move out.
2012 is important. This should be the year all of us tell ourselves ‘that is the last time!’ No extraterrestrial beings are going to save us from our non-exciting life, nor are they going to enslave us or destroy us, planets won’t be bumping into us, there will be no intergalactic collisions and most importantly ancient civilizations had far more important things to do than what we imagine they were doing.
Truth is always elusive and we are meant to always discover new knowledge. But the fact remains, some things we don’t know and we’ll never know. Especially things of the past. There is no natural impending doom to our planet except wars people start and destruction people bring upon themselves.
The world is not coming to an end, not anytime soon. Let 21st December 2012 mark an end of a cycle literally and figuratively. If 2012 cant do it then no other date in our future can. Breathe easy and let it go.
