The power of a photograph to capture a moment as it is, is truly amazing. It can describe feelings, thoughts and memories better than thousand words spoken or written. This is one such picture. A herd of cows walking home along the beach at twilight on one spectacular late evening. If I can go back in time even for a little while, this would be the day and that moment I would want to witness again. I have seen gloriously mesmerizing pictures taken by people all over the world. Nature unfolds some of its remarkable self, day and night and all over this universe. But our personal encounters with nature’s utmost beauty are more precious than an award winning photograph by someone else. This is how I feel about this picture and the fact that it was taken by the one person I truly ever loved in this world, makes it even more powerful.
Sometimes, pictures can be like tears. Washington Irvin once said, “there is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are the messengers of overwhelming grief, of deep contrition, and of unspeakable love.” When the emotions are overwhelming and the memories flood your mind, there is that one picture that speaks of your heart, your sadness, joy and love that vanquishes the power of words. I was never really good at speaking my own heart, which is why I cry a lot.
